Terence Trent D'Arby - TTDRe's (One [Baker's] Dozen Remixes)

Here, as promised, are those lucky 13 D'Arby remixes -- but of just two songs! -- that are not available on any album. ELEVEN versions of "Do You Love Me Like You Say", and a pair of "Surrender"s. Enjoy, and I'll be back with more stuff soon. Link you-know-where. Leave you-know-what.

  1. What killed TTD's career? I remember seeing him on Saturday Night Live way back when and thought he was the "2nd coming". Did Prince steal his thunder? Was his out-spoken ego too much from a black man at the time?
I love his stuff and thanks for sharing.

  7. Thanks so much for this. To answer the person up above, what killed his career was an actual interview in Rolling Stone where he compared himself to the Beatles and Jesus. It was completely pompous and tasteless. But he was a genius in other areas. He did later find "god" and spirituality and now records under the name, Sananda Maitreya. See below: www.sanandamaitreya.com.

  8. Unfortunately, as far as the music I've heard, he lost much of his talent when he "found God". As happy as he might be with that trade-off, I find his newer work a pale, pale shadow of his output as TTD.

  9. Hey, came upon your blog while hunting for some TTD stuff. I have all B sides released from Hardline to Vibrator and also the single released under the Pseudonym The Incredible E.G. O'Reilly The Birth of Maudie An Chuileann if you don't have them. Also some Soular Return/Wildcard outtakes that he was giving away on his website but aren't there anymore. Funny thing- I took some of the rare b sides and the outtakes from Soular and made an album of called TTD's Outside The Circles of Time, played it for some of my friends as a lost album and it blew their minds but I eventually told the truth lol. I also have a Symphony or Damn concert taped in Italy and a Vibrator concert from Engand. Let me know if you any of this or track listings or whatever and I'll be happy to share. Peace....

  11. Hi Anon, glad you found the blog. I would love to get ahold of those two shows. Also the track I have to transfer from vinyl mentioned above is indeed An Chuileann, so if you have that as a digital track I'd love that too.

Meanwhile thanks for the link to the "Circles" comp you made!

Can you get my email from the right-hand column "about me" and let me know how I might get that stuff from you? Thanks!

  12. @PopCulturist, I sent you an email 3/26 but didn't get a response from you? JeffRoSongshow@aol.com, is that right? If you have a unlimited broadband internet connection I can send the concerts directly to you using We Transfer.

  14. Hey Jeff/@PopCulturist,
Bill here (the guy who sent you the 'present' last December). Was just wondering if you minded if it was posted somewhere else? I hope you are enjoying it, and realise you aren't able to be as active as you used to be, but still wanted to check.

Also, do you mind if your TTD links are re-posted with therarestuff credit and links?

Just not sure if you are taking a break, or have moved on to new adventures..

Hope all is well and thanks for all you have shared

    B

  15. Hello, Bill -

Thanks for checking in, and asking. And thanks again for that present! Of course, it's alright with me if that gets posted elsewhere! And I'd be happy to have you link to my TTD posts, I'd rather have that than just reposting my Megaupload links, but I'm ok with whatever.

One of these days I shall post again..! Good to hear from you.

  16. I remembered why I didn't share that TTD show, it has gaps between the tracks, and I never got around to editing them out... it would be nice if somebody would!

  17. Thanks! Hopefully will send some traffic your way. Apologies for the gaps, as ripped from cd so must have been on it. If I find the time to fix, will let you know!

...and good to hear from you
